About Us
The Early Childhood Teachers Association (ECTA Inc) http://www.ecta.org.au comprises of registered teachers and others interested in the work of early childhood professionals, committed to promoting early childhood education philosophy and the ongoing development of quality care and education for young children.
Established
The Early Childhood Teachers Association (ECTA) came into existence in 1976, a metamorphosis from the State Preschool Teachers Association that formed in 1973 when the first Queensland State preschools opened. The number of teachers qualified to teach in schools and kindergartens expanded rapidly during these years and the name change reflected the intention to provide professional support wherever members found work as teachers.
ECTA was created and is administered by members who teach in schools, kindergartens and childcare centres working in health or education areas, and others interested in the work of early childhood professionals committed to promoting early childhood education philosophy and the ongoing development of quality care and education for young children.
We encourage the establishment of regional groups throughout the state to enhance networking among early childhood professionals. Our programs are designed to enhance the professional growth of members and others working in services for children 0-8 years.ECTA designs and implements and promotes programs that enhance the professional growth of early childhood professionals working in Queensland. As a networking group we encourage individuals and groups to identify and share with others what they are learning about involving good practices that are emerging within their work environment.
